Three police officers are fighting for their lives in the ICU after being attacked with acid while pursuing a suspect in Nairobi’s Ngara area on Monday.
The officers—Tom Mbuku, Moses Lelei, and Joyce Otieno—were in hot pursuit of a suspect accused of smuggling stolen drugs when he locked himself inside a building to evade capture.

As the officers tried to force entry, a 45-year-old woman identified as Mororoi emerged and unleashed the acid, leaving the officers with devastating burns to their faces and limbs.

A swift response team evacuated the injured officers to Nairobi West Hospital, while four individuals found inside the facility were arrested.
Police recovered five liters of suspected sulphuric acid and a stash of drugs at the scene, now held as evidence.
