George Achoka, a Kenyan man with a mission to spread love and break records, is preparing to attempt a world-first: the Guinness World Record for the highest number of hugs by an individual in 24 hours.
His goal? To hug a staggering 15,000 people in one day.
But while this challenge may seem overwhelming to most, Achoka believes it is within reach, and he’s ready to take on one of the most physically and emotionally demanding feats of his life.

“Although it appears challenging, I believe it is achievable,” Achoka says with unshakeable confidence.
The 30-year-old is no stranger to the power of human connection.
For the past two years, he’s been giving out free hugs to the people of Kenya, spreading warmth and positivity wherever he goes.
His viral moment came during the highly charged Reject Finance Bill demonstration, where he hugged over 1,000 people in just two hours, turning the protest into a sea of compassion and connection.

“For some, it’s like a therapy session,” he explains. “You’ll actually feel the stress release once the embrace is over.”
He believes that hugs can have a profound effect on people, acting as a source of comfort, relief, and even emotional healing.
“Once you embrace someone, you realize just how much people need that simple connection. It’s calming, it’s conversational, and it’s healing.”
Breaking Stereotypes
One of Achoka’s missions is to change the stereotype that Nairobians—and by extension, Kenyans—are cold and unapproachable.
“When 1,000 people come up to hug you, it shows that people are warm,” he says. “We’re just here to spread love and good vibes.”

His aim is to show the world that Kenyans are not only friendly but that they are also open to giving and receiving affection, regardless of the setting.
“If we can have sponsors come on board, that would be a noble course to spread love,” he adds, noting that financial and logistical support is critical to the success of the event.
Rules of the Challenge
To break the Guinness World Record, Achoka will need to follow strict guidelines.
The timer for the challenge will run continuously for 24 hours, and he cannot leave the stage during that time. Each hug must be a full embrace, and no person is allowed to hug him more than once.
If the timer stops at any point, he will be disqualified.
“I’m physically ready to handle the pressure,” he says, adding that mental endurance is just as important. “It’s a test of stamina and focus.”
Financial Support Needed for the Event to Succeed
To make this event a reality, Achoka is seeking Ksh 1 million in financial support to cover the costs of live streaming, security, professional witnesses, and other event logistics “This is not just about setting a record,” he emphasizes. “It’s about creating an experience, bringing people together, and spreading love.”
