Authorities in Athi River, Machakos County, arrested a 44-year-old man and confiscated six bags of bhang valued at approximately Sh3.5 million in a dramatic police operation on October 23, 2024.
Acting on a tip-off from vigilant community members, officers from Athi River police station targeted a store in Kwa Mang’eli village, where they discovered eight sacks containing 115 kilograms of Cannabis Sativa hidden in an unfinished building.

The police report detailed that the operation was initiated after local residents expressed concerns about drug activity in the area.
Upon breaking into the store, the officers apprehended the suspect, who was present at the time, and transported him along with the seized narcotics to Athi River police station.
This bust comes just two days after another significant operation in Machakos Township, where police intercepted a vehicle carrying Sh6.9 million worth of bhang.

The driver of that vehicle was also arrested, with officers recovering six different registration number plates during the operation.
