Embattled Embu traders have received a significant boost following a generous commitment from local businessman and philanthropist Kenjava Wakogoto Mwaniki.
Wakogoto has pledged to repair the deteriorating St. Annes Kiriari-Kithunguriri Road, which recently caused a major loss for milk vendor John Kinyua.
On Tuesday, Kinyua, known as Gatia, experienced a distressing accident when his motorbike slid on the poorly maintained road, leading to the spillage of 182 litres of milk destined for Kiriari Market.

The incident highlighted ongoing issues with the road, which residents have long criticized for contributing to accidents and financial losses.
In response to the accident and Kinyua’s plight, Wakogoto, CEO of Eagle 1 Concrete and Machineries Ltd, swiftly took action. He directed his company to begin road repairs within 72 hours.

Kenyans.co.ke reported that by the morning after the incident, tractors and machinery were already on site, signaling a commitment to addressing the road’s condition.
“I visited Kiriari Market and was moved by John Kinyua’s situation. We are dedicated to helping him and the community by fixing the road,” Wakogoto said.

His initiative also included providing financial support to Kinyua to help him restock his milk supply, ensuring he could resume his business operations promptly.
Residents have long voiced concerns over the road’s condition, with another milk vendor having previously suffered a similar accident on the same stretch.
