President William Ruto, chairing a Cabinet meeting at State House Nairobi, unveiled the first batch of nominees for his new broad-based government on Friday, July 19.
The President retained six Cabinet Secretaries from the recently dismissed cabinet, including Kithure Kindiki (Ministry of Interior), Aden Duale (Ministry of Defence), Davis Chirchir (Ministry of Transport and Roads), Soipan Tuya (Ministry of Environment), and Alice Wahome (Lands and Public Works).

In a notable move, Rebecca Miano, who previously served as the Cabinet Secretary for Trade, has been nominated as the new Attorney General.
These nominees will undergo fresh vetting in the National Assembly before being officially sworn into office.
President Ruto emphasized his commitment to forming a balanced cabinet and indicated that internal processes across various sectors are ongoing to facilitate these appointments.

He announced plans to release a detailed road map next week outlining the new cabinet’s assignments, complete with clear timelines and deliverables aimed at harnessing the nation’s potential and driving it towards greatness.
Earlier, on July 11, President Ruto dismissed all Cabinet Secretaries and Attorney General Justin Muturi from the government, retaining only Prime Cabinet Secretary and Secretary for Foreign Affairs Musalia Mudavadi.
