In a dramatic turn of events, Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome has resigned just hours after President William Ruto dissolved his entire Cabinet.
Deputy Inspector General of the Kenya Police Service, Douglas Kanja, will take over as acting IG.
President Ruto has also appointed Eliud Langat as the Acting Deputy Inspector General of the Kenya Police Service and James Kamau as the Acting Deputy Inspector General of the Administration Police Service.
