Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua made a heartfelt plea for prayers during the consecration of ACK Nakuru Diocese Bishop Anthony Mambo on Sunday.
Speaking with a touch of humor, Gachagua asked Kenyans to remember him in their devotional petitions, emphasizing his commitment to maintaining his “honest man” mantra and striving to always voice the truth to the Kenyan electorate.

“Pray for our president to get wisdom and courage to lead our country, especially on the economic transformation in this country.
Continue praying for our country,” he urged. “Also remember me because you know I am a truthful and honest man. Pray for me that I continue being truthful and honest.”

The Deputy President’s remarks come amid ongoing political tension, as he has faced ridicule from leaders affiliated with President William Ruto.

During a public rally in Kirinyaga County on Saturday, Gachagua criticized the president’s allies for their condescending attitudes, stating that only President Ruto and the people of Kenya could direct his actions.
“Even some of his friends, his PAs want to order me around on how to do my work. Is it possible? Even bloggers of the president want to tell me what to do… you know me, I have only two bosses, President Ruto and the people of Kenya.”
Gachagua also accused these allies of fostering discord by forming a WhatsApp group dubbed ‘Project 22’ to incite other leaders against him.

He reaffirmed his stance on unity within the Mt Kenya region, rejecting claims that he was promoting tribal politics and emphasizing that their support for President Ruto demonstrated their patriotism.
“We have elected Ruto knowing that he is not a Kikuyu. We don’t want people telling us that we are tribal. We are patriots because of electing Ruto,” he declared.
