Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir has moved swiftly to protest a surprise raid by Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) officials on Radio Rahma FM, a station he owns.
In a video circulating on social media, Governor Nassir is seen protesting outside the radio station premises, linking the raid to his stance on banning muguka in Mombasa County, which he cited for health concerns.
Despite the raid, Nassir vowed to continue his efforts to combat muguka and plans to address the issue in an upcoming meeting with President William Ruto.
Governor Nassir voiced strong objections to the raid, suggesting it was a retaliatory act due to his firm stance on the muguka ban.

He claimed that KRA officers conducted the raid without the knowledge or approval of their superiors, describing the incident as a form of harassment.
“This is the first time in my life I have received up to five cases. All this is because of the muguka issue,” Nassir declared.

Mombasa County has outlawed the sale and distribution of muguka, a stimulant, due to its negative health impacts.
Governor Nassir remains steadfast in his campaign against the drug, emphasizing the importance of public health over economic interests.
He insisted that external pressures would not hinder his mission to protect the health of Mombasa’s residents.
Governor Nassir is prepared to bring this issue to the forefront in an upcoming meeting with President William Ruto.
He stressed that the well-being of the community must take precedence over financial gains. “I respect the president who has called for a meeting between leaders.
When that meeting comes, we will notify you, but whatever we are going to tell the president is what we are saying. We don’t want a product to be forced on our people.
Statistics show that this product is hurting our people. We cannot prioritise money over a whole generation,” Nassir emphasized.
